Grilled chicken wings is one of those recipes that I believe I have perfected over time.  The crispy skin and tender, fall off the bone, meat all tossed in a sauce of choice make them the ultimate grillin snack.  This time around I made deliciously sweet and savory Honey BBQ wings.  With some added heat from the sriracha, this sticky, sweet sauce is the secret to the best Honey BBQ Chicken Wings you have ever tasted!

Step 1: Grill the chicken wings first.

Raw chicken wings

In a large bowl, coat raw chicken wing pieces in olive oil and season them with Dad’s All Purpose rub. Toss them around to make sure each piece is nicely seasoned.

Heat up the grill to 375 degrees and place the wings on indirect heat. Make sure to flip the wings about half way through to ensure an even cook throughout.  Total grill time should be about 45-60 minutes or until wings reach an internal temperature of 180 degrees.

Dad’s Seasonings

Must have grillin seasonings!

Step 2: How to make homemade Honey BBQ Sauce

Honey BBQ sauce ingredients

While the wings are on the grill, it’s time to make the homemade Honey BBQ sauce.  In a sauce pan add brown sugar, ketchup, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey, molasses, apple cider vinegar and BBQ seasoning of choice.  Let the ingredients simmer over low heat for 10 minutes allowing them to mix nicely together for that perfect wing coating.  The aroma from this sauce fills the kitchen with that sweet and savory scent. Trust me, you’ll be salivating before this recipe is ready!

Time to sauce up the honey BBQ wings! Toss well to ensure you get an even coating all over the wings. Serve and enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions:

How do get a tender meat and crispy skin on chicken wings?

The best way to avoid dry meat or know if any protein is ready is to check the internal temperature. Wings are no different. Grill over indirect heat for the and remove the wings at 180 internal degrees for the perfect tender and juicy meat and crispy skin

Can I make this in the oven stove top?

All my recipes can be replicated in the oven, stove top or gas grill. You do not need a big green egg or weber grill to replicate any of my recipes.
