I have been on a beef rib kick lately. This time decided to do something different from the traditional BBQ rib feast so I grilled up some Korean beef ribs also known as galbi. These marinated short ribs have deliciously savory and sweet taste. Cooked over direct heat, you can taste the charcoal flavors of the grill while the meat is tender. Cut into small individual pieces, these Korean beef ribs are perfect for parties and tailgating.

Step 1: Start with the marinade
First, you need to get started on the marinade. The ingredients are simple yet powerful in taste! You’ll need asian pears or regular pears if you can’t find the asian specific fruit, white onion, whole green onions and a whole lot of garlic. Chop up the ingredients and drop them into a blender. Next, add orange juice, sesame oil and salt. Blend the ingredients together. Let me tell you, this marinade smells just absolutely amazing!!!
Pour the marinade into a large bowl and dunk the short rib strips into the marinate making sure to cover all sides. Place the bowl in the fridge for a few hours, ideally overnight, to let the meat absorb all those wonderful asian inspired flavors.

Step 2: Grill the Korean beef ribs
Cooking time on these Korean beef ribs is quick. Cooked over direct heat, the come out perfectly grilled and charred within minutes.
Heat up the grill to 400 degrees for direct heat. Place the marinated ribs directly on the grates for 2 minutes per side. Once the cook is done, remove the Korean beef ribs off the grill and let them rest for 10 minutes.
Before serving, cut the ribs into smaller single serve pieces. Top off with some chopped green onion and enjoy!
