Beefy, meaty, cheesy and huge is how I would describe this baconator copycat burger. Yes, just like the fast food option, but this homemade version is so much better, bigger and I dare you to eat the whole thing! A carnivores dream, this is one manly burger.

Step 1: Prepare the meat
For this recipe I went with an 80/20 blend mix of ground chuck beef. I find that it’s the perfect blend to get a tender and flavorful patty without the dryness of a leaner mix.
I form my patties by hand. It’s my preference, but you can always use a patty press to ensure an even size. Take 1/4 lbs. piece of beef and shape it into a flat round patty.
Next, season all sides with Dad’s All Purpose rub and set aside. Remove strips of bacon and place on the side.
Dad’s Seasonings
Must have grillin seasonings!
Step 2: Time to grill a baconator copycat.
Preheat the grill to 400 degrees and set for dual zone grilling. This means you need a direct and indirect set up on the grill.
First, place the bacon on the indirect side of the grill to crisp up. This will take the longest time to cook. Flip once the bottom is crispy and dark brown in color. Next, place the patties on the direct heat and get a nice sear around. This will take about 4 minutes per side. Next, place a slice of american cheese on each beef patty and transfer them to the indirect side and cook until the cheese melts over the meat. For a medium cook, remove the patties once they reach an internal temperature of 135 degrees. Set aside for 5 minutes to rest.
Step 3: Mix the burger sauce
This simple burger sauce will help your burger from being dry and add some much needed flavor.
In a mixing bowl, add ketchup, mayo, mustard, relish and Dad’s All Purpose rub. Mix the ingredients together.
To assemble the baconator copycat burger, start with toasting up some burger buns. Next, add a nice layer of the burger sauce, 1 cheesy beef patty followed by 4 strips of bacon. Repeat this process and finish with another layer of the sauce on the bottom of the top bun. Bite in and enjoy!
